Stay there once, and that will be enough.

We had stayed here in 2002 and were looking forward to our next visit. Had heard about all the updates and renovations, but didn't see the differences. The first night, we were in a fourth floor suite which was like staying in grandma's attic. Low ceilings, holes in the curtains and blanket, worn carpet, broken furniture. The regular rate for this room is more than $***.00! We asked to be moved to a room on the third floor which was very nice, but that was the only thing that went right. The restaurant is expensive and the staff rude. The pool was closed, which we we did not know until we got there. I would go for the tour there, and stay at a nicer hotel for half the price down the street.

My husband and I had a great time at the Stanley. Like many of other guests, we were roaming halls, taking pictures, and getting EVP's. It was so great. The food was also very good, but expensive. The accomodations at the Manor House (right next to the main house) was great!!!! Very comfortable. Staff were also great, let us roam all hallways without issues, even late at night. We highly recommend this hotel, even if your not a ghost hunter.

Great historic hotel. 100 years old this month. We stayed in a historic room on the 4th floor. Nice old fashioned room with a modern bathroom and large flat screen TV. Bed was a little soft for me. They give ghost tours durring the day. In the afternoon after we checked in we tried to take a nap but you can hear anyone walking down the hall and it was quite loud when the tour group was on the floor. On the plus side we did get to hear part of the information from the tour from the comfort of our room. We had 3 meals in the dinning room and all 3 were great.

My wife and I just returned from a two night stay at the Stanley Hotel. Since this is the off season, there were very few people staying in the hotel. When we arrived, the weather was in the "teens". When we checked in the heat was not working in our room. They sent a guy up to fix it but he ended up giving us a space heater. Eventually, the regular heat came on and the room was fine. We had reserved their basic room and It was a very pleasant. We were happy with the hotel. The hotel was well kept and it was fun staying in a historic hotel. We did not have any trouble with noise although I could see that if there were more people staying there, it could be a problem. The hotel is very majestic and the views from the hotel were spectacular. Parking was easy and there was free internet in the rooms. We did not eat in the hotel but checked out the menu. It was pretty pricey.

What a beautiful historical hotel! The detailed woodwork is amazing in the Billard room, etc. If you want to experience a night in an old hotel, this is the place. It definately is not a modern hotel with all the bells and whistles, but that is why we stayed. It is kept up very well, and so fun to walk around looking at the Music room, Billard room, front porch, entryway, etc. The old fashion feel was very relaxing. Our room had an old 4 poster bed with some antique furniture that was beautiful, but also had a modern flat panel TV. Estes Park has gorgeous views, and we would love to come back here in the summer time. We came for a wedding, and our family stayed at a fancier resort-type lodge, but ended up coming to the Stanley to visit us and loved the place! Fun experience.
