The Hotel was great, good, clean and comfortable room. The Hotel staff was very helpfull, I had a family emergency just before check out and they did everything that was possible to extend my check out time and secure all my stuff while helping on looking for another Hotel nearby. Additionally the restaurant was awesome.

Room with king bed was nice, and clean. Room wall is thin so you might hear your next room neighbor and outside noice. No problem for me. Will stay there again as it is walking distance to all attractions.

06/30/2009This hotel was probably a conversion from an old apartment building and unfortunately it shows. i don't think they spent much time renovating the place. there's no insulation ...
this hotel was probably a conversion from an old apartment building and unfortunately it shows. i don't think they spent much time renovating the place. there's no insulation so you can hear everything on your floor. our keys didn't work when we arrived. the elevators were tiny. and the neighborhood was really scary. there was only a 19 inch tv in the room. and the carpet was so dirty, my socks were black from walking around. the only slightly saving grace was the curiously weird but friendly hotel staff.

Our stay was wonderful. The staff was very helpful with directions and ideas and information. We were always greeted with smile and friendly greeting from every employee we encountered, that includes from the desk to the maintenance man we met in the elevator. The wine tasting each evening was a great way to relax after a busy day of sightseeing and gave us the opportunity to meet many of the other guests who were staying in the hotel. Our room was clean, well kept each day, had a wonderful view. There was internet service available in the lobby. When we return to San Francisco, we will definitely stay with the Hotel Carlton again.

03/15/2009Centrally located. quiet. convenient to public transportation. newly decorated. comfortable. nice lobby with fireplace. friendly staff. nice restaurant in house. very ""green"" i.e.,energy conservation. we would stay again.
